Golfer Phil Mickelson has once again found himself at the center of a heated debate, this time targeting Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
Over the weekend, the LIV Golf star took to X to call for Omar’s deportation to Somalia, accusing the Minnesota Democrat of illegally obtaining U.S. citizenship.
The comments came amid controversy following Omar’s statement about the late conservative podcaster Charlie Kirk, in which she suggested Kirk “spread hate” and should be consigned “to the dust bin of history.”
A Fiery Social Media Post
In a Saturday post, Mickelson wrote, “Ilhan spews hate every time she opens her mouth, she came here fraudulently and will hopefully be sent back to Somalia soon,” posting the message just before Kirk’s memorial service in Glendale, Arizona.
The remarks echoed long-standing criticisms from former President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly attacked Omar online, highlighting her Somali heritage and raising unproven questions about her path to citizenship.
Trump’s Ongoing Allegations
Trump described Somalia as a country plagued by civil unrest, poverty, and corruption, questioning why Omar should have influence in the U.S. government.
He also repeated claims that she married her brother to gain citizenship—allegations that Omar has consistently denied and that multiple investigations have found no proof of.
Omar did marry Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009, but claims that they were siblings have never been substantiated.
She was previously married to Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi, with whom she has three children, and is currently married to political consultant Tim Mynett.
Mickelson’s Social Media Activity
Mickelson’s post about Omar is just the latest in a series of social media statements following Kirk’s tragic death in Utah.
Responding to actor James Woods’ coverage of Kirk’s memorial, Mickelson called the event “incredible and inspiring.”
He also shifted focus to environmental topics, commenting on oil and black tar seepage along the ocean floor.
Mickelson suggested that Sable Offshore Corp. be allowed to “extract the oil, reduce the pressure and seepage, save marine wildlife, and help the beaches become cleaner and more beautiful.”
Advocating for Sable Offshore
In recent months, Mickelson has publicly promoted Sable Offshore Corp., even referencing the company’s stock ticker $SOC as a “win for EVERYONE including environmentalists.” His suggestions have not gone unchallenged.
One social media follower criticized his stance, joking that his “brain is suffering from seepage.” Mickelson replied, “Yes and it keeps spewing facts.
Many are too soft to deal with facts and the truth.”
Controversy Continues
From political accusations to environmental proposals, Mickelson’s posts have once again ignited debate.
While some support his outspoken style, others see his comments as inflammatory, keeping both him and Congresswoman Omar at the center of a heated online conversation.
