While fans often see Perrie Edwards glowing on stage or sharing sweet family moments online, behind the scenes, the former Little Mix star has been dealing with something far more serious—and deeply personal.
In a candid moment during her appearance on Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend, Perrie opened up about her struggle with panic disorder and how it’s affected her daily life.
She invited Alison into her home and shared how overwhelming the fear of panic attacks has become.
“I’m Scared I Might Die When I’m Alone”
Perrie, now 31, spoke honestly about the mental health battle she’s been facing for years.
“I’ve developed panic disorder,” she said, explaining that it’s not just the panic attacks themselves, but the constant fear of having another one.
“A few years ago, I started suffering from really severe panic attacks,” she revealed.
That fear quickly grew into something bigger. “Now I’m scared of having one again—especially if I’m alone.
I start thinking, ‘What if I die and no one’s around to help me?’”
Because of that, she’s hardly ever on her own. “I’m always with someone,” she admitted.
“I don’t like the feeling of being alone—it makes me feel like I might die.”
It was a raw, emotional moment that revealed just how consuming anxiety can be, even for someone who seems to have it all together.
Perrie Opens Up About Her Growing Family
The conversation also turned to motherhood—something Perrie lights up about.
Since welcoming her son Axel in 2021 with her fiancé, footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, she’s embraced life as a mum with love and enthusiasm.
She shared that when Alex is away for work, Axel sleeps in her bed to keep her company.
“It’s just comforting,” she said with a smile.
Alison cheekily asked if she was planning to have more children.
Without hesitation, Perrie responded, “I’d love more! I always wanted four kids.”
Then she laughed, acknowledging the practical reality. “But now I’m like, maybe that’s a bit much—we wouldn’t even fit in a car!”
Alison joked, “Just get a bigger car!” to which Perrie quipped, “I don’t want to!” She even mentioned she had a dream recently where she was pregnant again.
“Should we go get a pregnancy test?” Alison teased, and Perrie laughed, “Could you imagine?”
Little Mix Babies Are Already BFFs
Perrie also shared a sweet glimpse into her family life on Instagram.
In a heartwarming photo, her son Axel is seen playing with the twin daughters of her former bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
The picture showed Perrie crouching down with Axel while Leigh-Anne held her little girls, all of them smiling during a playdate.
Though Leigh-Anne and her husband Andre Gray have kept their daughters’ names private, they were born just five days before Axel, and the kids have clearly become close friends—just like their mums were during their Little Mix days.
In the snap, Axel looked adorable in a mini Beşiktaş football kit, proudly repping the team his dad plays for.
Perrie and Alex often gush about their little one, and she’s called becoming a mum “the best thing that ever happened” to her.
What’s Next for Perrie?
As Perrie juggles motherhood, her relationship, and a life in the public eye, she’s also working hard to manage her mental health—and being incredibly honest about it.
Her openness is a reminder that anxiety doesn’t discriminate, and that even in the happiest chapters of life, people can be fighting silent battles.
With plans for possibly expanding her family and a clear desire to stay connected to those she loves, Perrie’s future looks full of growth, both emotionally and personally.
And by sharing her story, she’s no doubt helping others feel a little less alone in theirs.
