Long before today’s job at a Santa Monica bar, Percy Hynes White was capturing attention as the charismatic Xavier Thorpe in Wednesday.
But now, almost two years after his exit from the hit Netflix show amid serious allegations, he’s greeting guests behind a velvet rope—checking IDs and welcoming patrons in a far more down-to-earth role.
A New Chapter Begins Behind the Bar
This week, Hynes White was seen sporting a genuine smile behind the hostess stand of a Santa Monica bar.
He was friendly, professional, and fully in control of guest arrivals—quite a shift from the Hollywood set to the bar entrance.
It’s a simpler gig, but one that seems to suit his current pace of life.
Allegations and Immediate Fallout
Hynes White was abruptly written out of Wednesday after anonymous social media allegations accused him of deliberately getting women intoxicated at a Toronto party to take advantage of them.
The actor, 23 at the time, fiercely denied the claims—calling them nothing more than a “campaign of misinformation.”
Family and Friends Felt the Impact
By the summer, Hynes White spoke out publicly.
He revealed the fallout had extended far beyond his career: his family was doxxed, friends faced death threats, and old photos—and even clips featuring him in character—were misused and misrepresented in harmful ways.
Support and Promise of More to Come
Supporters defended him at the time, with one insider telling the Daily Mail that Percy was “respectful, gracious, and a true professional,” and that Netflix had made the wrong choice in dropping him.
While he won’t return to the Wednesday cast, he does have other projects lined up—including the teen horror film Whistle.
Wednesday Marches On Without Him
Meanwhile, the Netflix series has soldiered on. Jenna Ortega will continue as Wednesday Addams, with Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia), Luis Guzmán (Gomez), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley) and Luyanda Unati Lewis Nyawo stepping into expanded, regular roles.
New additions include Billie Piper, Owen Painter, and Steve Buscemi as a series regular, along with Thandiwe Newton and more. Naomi J. Ogawa is exiting, and Jamie McShane moves to guest appearances as Sheriff Galpin.
