Patrick Mahomes isn’t just gearing up for another NFL season — he’s also polishing up his watch collection.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback recently opened up in an interview with GQ, where he announced a new partnership with luxury Swiss watchmaker Hublot.
But beyond the glitz of a new deal, Mahomes shared some surprising details about his watch obsession, including tips he’s picked up from Tom Brady and his close teammate Travis Kelce.
A Growing Love for Watches
Mahomes admitted that his fascination with watches began long before his NFL days, back when he spent time in Major League Baseball locker rooms with his father, Patrick Mahomes Sr.
Since then, he’s made it a personal tradition to buy a new watch before every football season — a ritual that has grown into a serious passion.
Learning from the Best: Tom Brady’s Perspective
When it comes to style, Tom Brady’s name always seems to come up — and for Mahomes, it’s no different.
Brady is known for sporting some of the priciest pieces in the game, like the $740,000 Jacob & Co. Caviar Tourbillon he wore to the Super Bowl.
Mahomes explained that Brady has given him more than a few pointers about collecting.
According to the seven-time Super Bowl champion, it’s not just about having the rarest or most expensive timepiece.
It’s about who you know in the industry and, above all, the confidence with which you wear it.
Mahomes laughed that Brady always has watches he’s never even heard of, but that’s exactly the kind of collecting level he hopes to reach one day.
Kelce’s Take: Style First, History Second
If Brady is all about the depth and connections in watch collecting, Travis Kelce brings a different kind of flair.
Mahomes described his close friend and teammate as a “savant” when it comes to style — someone who can take the same watch and pull off a completely different look depending on the week.
Kelce may not dive deep into the history of each piece, but Mahomes says he has a better grasp of it than most people would assume.
More importantly, he knows how to make a watch part of his overall outfit, which is a skill Mahomes admits he’s learned a lot from.
Balancing Watches and Football
Of course, Mahomes isn’t just talking about wristwear. The Chiefs are about to kick off their season in Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers.
After a painful 40–22 Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in February, Mahomes and Kelce are aiming to get back to championship form and push for a fourth straight NFL finale appearance.
For Mahomes, watches may be a passion project, but football remains the main stage.
Still, as he explained, the two worlds aren’t so different — confidence, preparation, and attention to detail matter just as much on the field as they do when picking the right watch.
