Just when it seemed like the transfer saga surrounding Real Madrid’s Rodrygo might cool down, a new name has entered the chat—Paris Saint-Germain.

With the summer transfer window heating up, PSG have reportedly thrown their hat into the ring to sign the Brazilian forward, adding another twist to an already complicated storyline.

A Tough Season at Real Madrid

Rodrygo has had a rollercoaster ride over the past year.

After rising to become a key figure at Real Madrid since his €45 million move from Santos in 2019, the 24-year-old suddenly found himself struggling for minutes.

The arrival of Kylian Mbappe last summer shook things up at the Bernabeu, and Rodrygo’s spot in the starting XI started to look increasingly uncertain.

Breaking Point and El Clasico Drama

Things took a dramatic turn in May when reports emerged that Rodrygo had told the club he no longer wanted to play for them.

The situation came to a head when he didn’t feature in El Clasico against Barcelona, and then-manager Carlo Ancelotti left him out of the squad entirely after that.

It was a clear signal that all was not well between the player and the club.

A Glimmer Under Xabi Alonso, But Not Much More

When Xabi Alonso took over as Real Madrid’s new manager, there was some hope for a fresh start.

Rodrygo did get the nod to start in their opening game at the Club World Cup.

But since then, he’s only managed to clock 27 minutes on the pitch—raising even more doubts about his future in Madrid.

PSG Joins the Chase

Enter PSG. According to ESPN Brazil, the French champions have now reached out to Rodrygo’s representatives.

Manager Luis Enrique is said to be a big admirer of the player, and while talks haven’t progressed much yet, the interest is very real.

The Parisians have been eyeing him since last summer, and with a Champions League title under their belt, they’re in a strong position to attract big names.

Cristiano Ronaldo Wants Him in Saudi Arabia

Meanwhile, Saudi club Al-Nassr has also been pursuing Rodrygo—and that push seems to have been personally encouraged by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.

The report suggests Ronaldo named Rodrygo as a priority target, prompting Al-Nassr to contact his camp directly.

The Saudi league continues to lure high-profile talent, and Rodrygo is very much on their radar.

What About Arsenal?

Rodrygo’s name has also been mentioned in connection with Arsenal, who are looking to bolster their attacking options.

But at this point, PSG and Al-Nassr appear to be leading the race, with Arsenal hovering quietly in the background.

Still Valued Despite the Uncertainty

Despite his recent struggles, Rodrygo’s numbers at Real Madrid are impressive.

In 270 appearances, he has notched 68 goals and 51 assists.

Real Madrid reportedly value him at around €90 million (£77 million), and while he may not have the same superstar status as Mbappe or Vinicius Jr., his record speaks for itself.

Alonso Still Backing Him—Sort Of

Ahead of Real Madrid’s Club World Cup clash against Juventus, Xabi Alonso offered a few supportive words.

He noted that Rodrygo was training well and still had an important role to play—but was clear that final decisions on who starts are entirely up to him.

“Rodrygo is training well and I see him in good spirits,” Alonso said.

“In these competitions, even those who come off the bench can be decisive. Everyone has to be ready.”

So, What’s Next for Rodrygo?

That’s the million-euro question. With PSG and Al-Nassr circling and Real Madrid seemingly unsure how to use him, Rodrygo’s next move could redefine his career.

Whether he chooses a fresh start in Paris, a lucrative shift to Saudi Arabia, or stays to fight for his place in Madrid—this transfer story is far from over.
