Just hours before she was due to speak at a major anti-trafficking event in Washington, Attorney General Pam Bondi abruptly canceled her appearance—citing a surprise medical emergency.
But the timing couldn’t have been more politically charged.
Torn Cornea or Torn Expectations?
Bondi was scheduled to appear at CPAC’s Summit Against Human Trafficking on Wednesday, but attendees were caught off guard when she didn’t show.
Instead, Acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew R. Galeotti took to the stage with a message:
“I’m sorry to miss all of my CPAC friends today… Unfortunately, I’m recovering from a recently torn cornea.”
The crowd reacted with scattered applause and a few walkouts.
Galeotti even joked, “We appreciate the applause for her and not boos for me,” acknowledging the room’s unease.
No further details about Bondi’s injury were provided by the Department of Justice.
Bombshell Report Links Bondi to Trump-Epstein Briefing
Her absence came just hours after the Wall Street Journal dropped a major report claiming Bondi had previously told former President Donald Trump that his name appears multiple times in the sealed Jeffrey Epstein files.
The report alleges Bondi personally warned Trump in May that while the mentions might be “unverified hearsay,” they also included deeply sensitive content—including child pornography and victim information—making further public releases potentially dangerous and damaging.
Public Denials Don’t Match What’s Allegedly Happening Behind the Scenes
Trump has publicly downplayed the Epstein connection.
When asked earlier this month if Bondi had briefed him about his name showing up in the documents, his response was blunt:
“No, no. Just a very quick briefing.”
He then pivoted to blaming former FBI Director James Comey, accusing him of fabricating the claims in the files.
But according to the WSJ, multiple senior officials confirmed Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche did, in fact, hold a detailed meeting with Trump to discuss the Epstein documents.
MAGA Base Grows Frustrated With Bondi
Pam Bondi’s credibility has been taking hits from all sides.
Earlier this year, she went on Fox News and claimed the Epstein “client list” was sitting on her desk.
But when the long-awaited “Phase I” documents were finally released, no such list appeared.
A leaked DOJ-FBI memo later revealed that no client list was ever found in the agency’s files.
That revelation enraged many within Trump’s MAGA base, who had been led to believe explosive disclosures were imminent.
Some are now accusing Bondi of stalling and covering up information.
The backlash is growing—calls for her resignation have started echoing through pro-Trump online spaces.
The Cover-Up Claims and Political Fallout
Bondi had previously told colleagues at a July 8 cabinet meeting:
“They turned out to be child porn downloaded by that disgusting Jeffrey Epstein.
Never going to be released, never going to see the light of day.”
That explanation, instead of calming tensions, only fueled accusations of secrecy and deflection.
Within the MAGA community, some influencers now see the whole affair as a bait-and-switch.
What began as a rallying cry for transparency is quickly becoming a political flashpoint that could damage the administration’s credibility ahead of a high-stakes election cycle.
Trump Fumes at Wall Street Journal Over Epstein Coverage
To make matters worse, Trump has been in an escalating war of words with the Wall Street Journal.
He’s even threatened to sue the paper and its owner, Rupert Murdoch, for reporting that he once sent Epstein a birthday card featuring a hand-drawn outline of a naked woman.
“I never wrote a picture in my life,” Trump insisted.
“It’s not my language. It’s not my words.”
Legal experts suggest such a lawsuit would be nearly impossible to win, but the threat shows just how sensitive—and volatile—the Epstein saga has become for Trump and his inner circle.
As the Epstein files continue to dominate headlines, the pressure is mounting on Bondi, the DOJ, and Trump himself.
What was once seen as a moment of reckoning for elite wrongdoing is now unraveling into a web of contradictions, secrecy, and political tension.
And with each new twist, the calls for truth only grow louder.
