When it comes to making college campuses safer, information is everything.
That’s why the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) recently hosted an important pre-application info session for schools interested in its Fiscal Year 2025 grant program—specifically the one that focuses on addressing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking on campuses that are historically underrepresented.
Focused on Inclusive Institutions
The initiative is tailored for HSIs (Hispanic-Serving Institutions), HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities), and TCUs (Tribal Colleges and Universities)—schools that serve communities often impacted disproportionately by gender-based violence.
OVW’s goal with this session was to make sure these institutions are well-informed and equipped before applying for funding.
Breaking Down the Key Requirements
During the session, OVW staff walked attendees through the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).
They laid out the core requirements, explained how the application process works, and provided insight into what makes a strong proposal.
The idea was to give schools a head start—not just in paperwork, but in understanding how to build effective, lasting prevention and response programs on campus.
What Comes Next?
Now that the session is complete, interested institutions are encouraged to start preparing their applications.
That means reviewing the NOFO in full, aligning their program goals with the initiative’s mission, and organizing the necessary documentation.
It’s a competitive process, but with the guidance shared during the info session, applicants have a much clearer path forward.
