Orlando Pirates supporters are beginning to grow concerned as their beloved team struggles to find form on the pitch.
After three matches without a win, fans are asking: what’s really going on behind the scenes?
A Tough Loss Against Sekhukhune United
Tuesday’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Sekhukhune United came as a blow to the Sea Robbers, marking their third match in a row without a victory.
Their recent slump began with a goalless draw at home against Pyramids FC in the CAF Champions League semifinal.
Unfortunately, things didn’t improve in the away leg, where they suffered a 3-2 defeat in Cairo.
That string of results has raised eyebrows and sparked serious conversation.
Is the Coach’s Exit Affecting the Team?
Former Pirates forward Bruce Ramokadi believes there’s more to the dip in form than just tactics or bad luck. Speaking to KickOff, Ramokadi pointed to the timing of head coach Jose Riveiro’s expected departure, saying it’s had a psychological impact on the players.
“It’s been a few matches now without a win, and the uncertainty around the coach’s future definitely affects the squad,” he explained.
“Nobody likes change, especially when it disrupts the rhythm of a team.”
Uncertainty Behind the Scenes
Ramokadi went on to highlight something that often gets overlooked — the personal connection between a coach and his players.
“Some of these guys know they’re Riveiro’s favourites.
Now, with him leaving, they have to wonder if they’ll have the same standing under a new manager,” he said.
He added that this kind of uncertainty can take a toll: “Not knowing what the future holds can really damage the team’s morale.”
High-Stakes Derbies Up Next
Despite the current challenges, the show must go on.
Pirates are gearing up for two massive back-to-back clashes against arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
First up is the Soweto Derby this Saturday at FNB Stadium, followed by the highly anticipated Nedbank Cup final at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium next weekend.
Do You Think Ramokadi Has a Point?
What’s your take on the situation — is the coaching drama really throwing Pirates off their game, or is it just a rough patch in an otherwise strong season?
