Sometimes, leaving your comfort zone is exactly what you need to grow.
For 20-year-old Mohau Nkota, parting ways with Orlando Pirates might just be that turning point.
The talented young winger has officially left the club—and he’s already seizing new opportunities with energy and excitement.
Nkota isn’t alone in his departure. He’s one of several players bidding farewell to the Buccaneers this season.
But based on what we’ve seen so far, he might just be the one to watch.
Training with Legends: Nkota Links Up with Global Stars
Nkota has wasted no time getting into top-tier company.
In a recent training session, he was spotted laughing and learning alongside some pretty big footballing names—including none other than Gini Wijnaldum.
If the name sounds familiar, that’s because it should.
Wijnaldum was a fan favourite at Liverpool, helping them lift the Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup.
Now 34, the Dutch international has earned 96 caps and scored 28 goals for the Netherlands.
Nkota also got to train with French striker Moussa Dembélé, who’s had stints at PSG, Fulham, Lyon, and Atlético Madrid.
Not bad company at all for someone just stepping into the big leagues.
Pirates Keep Building: New Faces and New Deals
While Nkota is heading off, Orlando Pirates are also busy rebuilding.
The club has just signed another winger, Relebohile Mokoena, locking him into a three-year deal.
It’s all part of a wider shake-up, with fresh talent arriving and a total of 11 players reportedly leaving.
Another big update? Monnapule Saleng has returned to Orbit College, marking yet another shift in the Pirates’ squad strategy for the season ahead.
Monyane Swaps Sides in Soweto
And then there’s Thabiso Monyane—another departure from the Pirates camp.
He’s now joined cross-town rivals Kaizer Chiefs, and it sounds like he’s loving the fresh start.
After falling down the pecking order behind Deano van Rooyen and Thabiso Lebitso, Monyane is ready for a new chapter and, more importantly, more playing time.
“I’ve been received well by the technical team, the players and the staff,” he said.
“Arriving from the other side of Soweto has been a breath of fresh air, and I’m embracing a new culture.”
What’s Next for Nkota?
With all eyes on his next move, fans are already asking: could Nkota have what it takes to make the leap to European football one day?
His attitude, talent, and the company he’s keeping suggest it’s not out of reach.
What do you think? Could Nkota become South Africa’s next big football export?
