Motshwari has been having a season to forget at the Buccaneers after off-field drama led to him losing his ‘regular’ status at the Mayfair based outfit.

Orlando Pirates suspended midfielder Ben Motshwari after he was formally charged by police in August 2021.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that it has suspended midfielder Ben Mothswari after being charged by police this morning. Mr Motshwari will remain suspended, pending an investigation,” a club statement read regarding the reported Kaizer Chiefs target.

Ben Motshwari has made just 10 league appearances for the Buccaneers after his off-field drama and has subsequently lost his place in the Bafana Bafana setup as well.

Much like teammate Gabadinho Mhango, his future seems pretty bleak with Orlando Pirates’ tolerance towards ‘naughty’ boys at an all time low.

Kaizer Chiefs offer Orlando Pirates star bumper contract – Report

It has since been reported that struggling Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs have offered Ben Mothswari a bumper offer with the hope of luring him from their rivals!

“Listen, I don’t think Ben Motshwari will be with the team next season,” a source told Citizen regarding the Orlando Pirates midfielder!

“His contract is ending at the end of the season and apparently he has been offered a huge deal by Kaizer Chiefs.

“They want him and they are not the only team that wants him, that club from Durban (AmaZulu) also wants him. So, the way things are going, it’s all up to him.”

According to Transfermarkt, the 31-year-old midfielder is valued at almost R15 million. Kaizer Chiefs however will have to fend off interest in their target from rivals AmaZulu.

Kearyn Baccus and Anthony Akumu both look set to leave the Glamour Boys while Cole Alexander and Phathutshedzo Nange have also failed to impress meaning the Orlando Pirates star may very well walk straight into their starting lineup.
