Orlando Pirates level on points with Kaizer Chiefs after Cape Town City draw!

As a result, the Buccaneers moved level on points with arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs on 32 points going into Saturday’s Soweto Derby.

We are fast approaching the first 15 minutes of the game, and it’s been Pirates all over with Deon Hotto and Bandile Shandu presented with good goalscoring opportunities.

Another attack by Pirates from the right-hand side with a cross played into the Cape Town City box but Hugo Marques pulls a great save to deny Kwame Peprah.

Peprah tried a cheeky backheel from inside the small box but Marques made himself big to keep the scoreline at 0-0 after 18 minutes.

Pirates get behind the Cape Town City defence yet again as Peprah combine with Shandu after 30 minutes.

However, Marques goes down to his right to make a very impressive save.

Pirates survive a scare as Tashreeq Morris’ close range attempt is dealt with by Siyabonga Mpontshane in the 44th minute.

Mpontshane makes another top drawer save as he finger-tips Thabo Nodada’s long-range shot over the crossbar for a corner on the stroke of half.

We’ve come to the end of the first half, and it’s Pirates 0-0 Cape Town City.

We are back underway for the second half…

Hotto is still buzzing as he hits the side-netting before setting up Peprah in the space of a minute.

We are 10 minutes into the second half as Peprah sets up Fortune Makaringe but the midfielder’s attempted shot is blocked for a corner.

Both teams continue to probe the two goalkeepers have done a good job in making some great save while also organising their defence well.

Cape Town City are taking the game to Pirates who appear to be very happy to sit back and soak up the pressure.

Substitute Zakhele Lepasa gets himself in a very promising area but with only the goalkeeper to beat, he has too many touches and allows Cape Town City players to recover and make a fine block.
