Ondo barber remanded for killing his father with a pestle

Victor Akinwa, a 23-year-old barber, has been remanded by a Magistrate’s Court in Akure, Ondo State, for the murder of his father, Justus.

Victor was apprehended in November 2021 in Basic Road, Idanre, in the state’s Idanre Local Government Area, after reportedly murdering his father with a pestle.

Police prosecutor, Mr. Obadasa Ajiboye who disclosed that the offense contravenes sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006, urged the court to remand the defendant in a custodial center pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

Magistrate, Mr. Damilola Sekoni remanded the defendant in the Olokuta Custodial Centre pending legal advice.

Sekoni then adjourned the case till March 31, 2022, for mention.
