Omah Lay, Tems In Cuffs In Uganda

Ugandan police have confirmed that Omah Lay and Tems, Nigerian musicians on tour in Uganda will not be released on bail and will remain in custody till the 16th of December, 2020.

The musicians were arrested and charged with negligent acts that can spread infectious diseases, referring to the Covid19 disease that is currently raging worldwide.

Ugandan authorities tweeted on 14th of December, 2020 that Stanley Omah Didia alias Omah Lay, Temilade Openiyi alias Tems and Muyiwa Awomiyi are charged to a court in Makindye on charges of “negligently doing acts that can spread infectious diseases”.

Omah Lay tweeted again asking why the Ugandan authorities are blocking the attempts of the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to arrange their release.

Omah Lay and Tems were arrested by the Ugandan authorities some days back on charges of disobeying the laid rules of public engagement due to Covid-19.

The promoters of their show and the musicians will appear in Ugandan High Court on the 16th of December, 2020.
