Olympic figure skating star Alexandra Trusova has taken a beautiful new step in her life—becoming a mom for the very first time.On August 6, Alexandra and her husband, fellow skater Makar Ignatov, welcomed a baby boy into the world.
While they initially had fans guessing the baby’s name, the couple eventually chose to name him Mikhail once they brought him home.
Ready for Family Life at Just 21
Even though she’s only 21, Alexandra has openly shared in past interviews that she felt ready for motherhood well before this moment. She’s always been clear about wanting more than just casual dating.
“I always said there’s no point in just dating for the sake of it.
I even said I wanted a child quickly,” Alexandra once confessed.
From Past Heartbreak to New Beginnings
Alexandra also opened up about her past relationships, revealing that her first serious romance, with fellow skater Mark Kondratyuk, ended when he decided he wasn’t ready to continue. “It was his decision.
He simply told me it was over, that he wasn’t ready anymore.
That was his choice,” she explained.
But her love story with Makar Ignatov has been very different—quick, passionate, and exactly what she hoped for.
They started dating in early 2024, and just a few months later, Makar proposed in a romantic gesture.
By August that same year, Alexandra became Mrs. Ignatova, and by spring 2025, they happily announced they were expecting.
What’s Next for the “Russian Rocket”?
Many sports fans and experts think Alexandra might step away from competitive skating now that she’s a mother, possibly ending her chase for the Olympic gold medal she has dreamed of for so long.
But Alexandra doesn’t seem worried about that anymore. Her focus is shifting to her new role as a mom and the family she’s building with Makar.
