The Ogun State government on Tuesday gave out cheques of various sums to last year’s outstanding teachers who won the Governor’s award.
Speaking during the presentation, Governor Dapo Abiodun explained that the delay experienced in the presentation of the cheque was due to Administrative bottlenecks
Apologizing for the delay , Governor Abiodun appreciated the teachers for joining hands with the state government in building the future generation.
The awardees included Mrs Mary akinbiyi, Mr akeem Badru, and Mr Ezekiel Fagboun for the primary school category, mr olubayo Akinola, Mrs Deborah Makinde in the Junior secondary School category; while Mr abayomi Adewale, Mr abidemi bankole, and Mrs grace sodiya in the senior secondary School category
Governor Abiodun also announced various awardees for this year’s governor’s award
Addressing agitation arisen over recent posting of teachers, the Governor directed TESCOM and SUBEB to review the posting of the teachers affected, informing that government would continue to apply transparency, equity and fairness in all its activities
The total sum of eleven million naira was given out to eight awardees in different categories in primary, Junior and secondary Schools including the best school administrator in the state.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu in a remark commended Governor Abiodun for his spirited efforts in motivating the teaching staff through improved welfare package and various initiatives introduced to make the state sustain its position as the education capital of the country
The Commissioner assured that the teaching staff would continue to intensify efforts to justify the investment of Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration in the education sector.
