Obumneme  Okoye Buried At Ifite Village, Ikenga Aguata Council Area

The remains of late Chief  Obumneme  Okoye has been laid to rest at his country home, Ifite village Ikenga in Aguata Local Government area.

Late Chief   Okoye died at the age of seventy-seven, until his death was a community leader, member of Ikenga Igwe in Council among others.

In a homily during a requiem mass, the parish priest Saint Anthony Catholic Church Ikenga, Aguata Local Government Area Reverend Father Peter Nwankwo described death as an inevitable end, a time unknown to man, hence the need for Christian to always be prepared at all times.

He stressed the need for one to be mindful of his life style, ensure a cordial relationship with God and people around you, always stand on the truth and try to be a blessing to all.

Reverend Father Nwankwo said late Chief Okoye while on earth was a good man. Who in several ways has touched people’s life positively, one of the men that stands on the truth in any village issues or land dispute.

He called on the children of the deceased to emulate their father’s life and ensure the peace their father stand for is maintained in the family.

Speaking in an interview during the internment at the grave yard, the first  son and the daughter of the deceased Mr Emeka Okoye and Toochukwu Ajagu who could not hold themselves described their late father as a man of the people who derives joy in seeing and making people around him happy, saying that they will forever miss his presence in the family.

The wife of the deceased Mrs Juliana Okoye said that the vacuum the death of her husband left in the family cannot be replaced praying God to assist the children in keeping their late father’s legacies.

Others who spoke of the good life of the late Chief Okoye include his sister Mrs Bessy Onwuka, the daughter in-law, Mrs Chinyere Okoye, the granddaughter Miss Chiamaka Okoye among others, regretted the death of their father saying it came to them as a shock as he did not sick too long.

Highpoint were lowering at the grave, parade by members of Igwe in council as well as handing other of staff of office back to the Igwe in council.
