Marian Vajda, Djokovic’s coach, has called the World No. 1’s deportation from Australia ‘unjust and unhealthy,’ promising that the athlete ‘will be back.’

Vajda has spoken of the ‘great anguish’ he faced during the saga, over a week after the tennis star was banned out of the nation.

Djokovic was deported after his visa was cancelled a second time by Immigration Minister Alex Hawke over concerns the player’s opinions would incite ‘civil unrest’ and branded him a ‘talisman of anti-vaccination sentiment’.

Djokovic’s coach said, “It was an unhealthy and unjust decision, based on the assumption that Djokovic could do or influence something that had not yet happened.

“I haven’t communicated with him since he arrived in Belgrade. It is clear that it hit him mentally, it will hurt him for a long time and it will be difficult to get it out of his head.”

The tennis star is also facing a possible three-year ban from Australia after officials discovered an error on his entry forms and he was deported.

Although Djokovic may also be unable to play in the future French and US Opens as the countries have introduced similar vaccine entry requirements, his coach said the tennis champion will soon be back on the court.
