No girl should be left behind- Women Minister

As Nigeria observes the International Day of the Girl Child, the  Minister of Women Affairs, Nana Bashir,  says no girl should be left behind for a prosperous Nigeria.

The Minster also called on stakeholders to work together to promote girls empowerment, self esteem and fulfillment of their human right.

She stated this while addressing the Press at the Ministry of Women Affairs headquarters in Abuja.

Nana Bashir said all hands must be on deck to address the issue of Girl Child education, ending child marriage, female genital mutilation, sexual abuse, ending Child trafficking and removing children from the streets.

“For a prosperous Nigeria, leave no Girl behind,” she added.

Parts of the itemized things she asked the Ministry to do includes; “support safe spaces for Girls in School, support mentoring and life skills to Girls, use technology as a solution to address Gender Based Violence”.

Nana Bashir, twelve years old is a Primary 6 student from Kebbi State, Northern Nigeria.

The theme for the 2021 International Day of the Girl Child is Digital Generation: ‘Our Generation’
