Melanie Blatt, the iconic pop star from the ’90s, has embarked on an exciting new chapter in her life.
The All Saints singer, now 50, has made an unexpected career change and is working as a chef at The Londesborough pub in Stoke Newington, North London.
This new venture has also seen her launch a food business, FullFillings, and she’s now part of the venue’s celebrity chef residency every Tuesday.
A Surprising Career Shift
In a recent Instagram post, Melanie shared some thrilling news.
She revealed that she’s not only cooking at the pub on Tuesdays but will be expanding her residency to include Fridays as well.
In her video, she joked about her appearance, saying, “Alright guys, I’m looking shocking today, extra shocking!
“But this is my shameless plug to come and eat my burgers tomorrow, come on, I know you want to.”
She continued, “I’ve already been in the kitchen for so long, and it’s only 1:30 pm, but come at my burgers!
“Also, exciting news for me, and hopefully for you, I’m serving my burgers on Friday as well.”
From Pop Star to Chef
Melanie was one of the biggest pop stars of the ’90s, rising to fame with All Saints.
The group sold over 10 million records worldwide, had five UK number one singles, and won two BRIT Awards.
After the band parted ways in 2001, Melanie pursued a solo singing career and appeared on various reality TV shows, including ITV’s The Hot Desk and a judge/mentor role on an overseas version of The X Factor.
Her passion for cooking led her to appear on Celebrity MasterChef in 2022, and now she’s taken her culinary skills to a whole new level with her chef residency at The Londesborough.
The Menu and Early Reception
Melanie’s debut as a professional chef at the pub took place earlier this month.
Initially, her residency had a soft launch, with no mention of her celebrity status on the menu.
This secrecy left some diners unaware that a famous ’90s pop star was cooking their food.
One diner, who had no idea Melanie was behind the beef burger, was shocked when they found out and went over to check the kitchen for themselves.
For those who did know, Melanie’s signature beef burger became a hit.
It features slow-cooked beef molded into a patty, served in a brioche bun with manchego cheese, pickled red onions, fries, and a rich gravy dip for £20.
The chicken burger, flavored with jerk seasoning, is also on the menu for £19.
Additionally, a macaroni cheese burger adds a unique twist to the offerings.
Support and Hype from Friends
Melanie’s friends have been rallying behind her as she steps into this new role.
One of her friends, who traveled from Hertfordshire to support her, shared how excited Melanie was about her new culinary career.
“She’s been really hyped about this and has been prepping and practicing for days ahead of her debut,” they said.
“We all know she’s a brilliant cook, but there’s a big difference from doing it in your own kitchen to cooking on demand in a busy pub.
“She’s determined to meet her own high standards.”
Despite her busy schedule, Melanie made time for a quick photo op on her first night, but was quick to get back to work, saying, “I’m enjoying it, but I haven’t got time to chat!”
What’s Next for Melanie?
With her successful residency and positive feedback from diners, it’s clear that Melanie is loving this new chapter in her life.
As she continues to serve up delicious gourmet burgers at The Londesborough, fans are eagerly anticipating what other culinary surprises she might have in store.
Will this be the start of a full-time career shift for Melanie?
Time will tell, but one thing’s for sure—she’s found a way to blend her passion for food with her celebrity status, and it’s turning heads in the process!
