Fans of British soap star Nikki Sanderson were left shocked after the actress shared that she had been rushed to the hospital following a serious treadmill mishap.
The 41-year-old Hollyoaks alum revealed that the accident ripped “several layers of skin” from her arms, knees, and chin, leaving her in visible pain.
Nikki took to Instagram to post a video of what she described as an “epic treadmill fail,” warning followers not to try the risky move at home.
In the clip, she attempts to turn sideways on the treadmill but loses her balance and smashes her face against the running belt.
She captioned the video:
“TW: Epic treadmill fail… this one hurt 😭 wait for it… A trip to the hospital with one glued chin and several layers of skin completely removed from my arms and knees.
Don’t try this at home kids. Side note… This was completely my own stupid fault, not the treadmill’s 😂.”
Stunning Sun-Soaked Holiday Moments
This accident comes shortly after Nikki wowed fans on social media with a sun-soaked Majorca holiday.
The former Channel 4 star shared sizzling snaps in eye-catching bikinis, flaunting her toned abs and glowing tan.
She posed in a pink striped two-piece one day, then switched to a triangle orange checked bikini another day, accessorized with Ray-Ban sunglasses and wet, swept-back brunette hair.
“Same spot, different bikini,” she captioned one of the photos, delighting her followers with her sun-soaked vacation vibes.
Stepping Away From Hollyoaks
Earlier this year, Nikki announced her decision to leave Hollyoaks after 13 years of playing Maxine Minniver.
Speaking to The Mirror before filming her final scenes in April, she admitted the choice was “incredibly difficult” but felt it was time to embrace change.
“Deciding to leave was an incredibly difficult decision for me because Maxine is a huge, huge part of my life – and a part of my life that I’ve loved,” Nikki said.
“It wasn’t an instant decision; it took me a long time to make, and it was something I genuinely fought with myself about. Now, I just have to embrace the instability of not knowing what’s next.”
The actress confirmed she isn’t ruling out a return to soapland and would consider joining Coronation Street again, where she previously played Candice Stowe.
Memorable Storylines and Fan Favourite Status
Since joining Hollyoaks in 2012, Nikki became a fan favourite for her portrayal of Maxine.
She tackled hard-hitting storylines, including domestic abuse, sexual assault, and Munchausen’s syndrome.
With her exit approaching, Hollyoaks bosses have promised a dramatic farewell for the character.
A source told The Sun:
“She met with bosses and told them of her plans to leave. She’d just turned 40 and felt the time was right to say goodbye to Maxine.
She’s keen to explore other opportunities and is excited to get back out there.”
