This is according to a press release released on January 26 by the Nigerian Embassy in Ukraine.
Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, re-shared the release on her official Twitter handle on Saturday.
Mrs Dabiri-Erewa re-shared the release in response to a tweet from @TheFavoredWoman, who inquired about plans for Nigerians in Ukraine amid fears of a worsening of the conflict on the Russia-Ukraine border.
“How do Nigerians in Ukraine plan to return home?” The Twitter user inquired, “We have a lot of Nigerian students over there…”
The NIDCOM boss in response re-shared the press release and said, “@TheFavoredWoman, kindly note that the Nigerian Mission in Ukraine has since Jan 26th issued a statement asking Nigerians in Ukraine, particularly students, to follow the process stipulated in the release below.
“Please be informed that the Embassy will make periodic announcements as the need arises.”
When contacted by Channels Television for an update on the safety of Nigerians in Ukraine, Dabiri-Erewa replied with a text message stressing the information on the January 26 press release.
“Nigerians in Ukraine have been duly advised by the Embassy to contact the mission and register appropriately as indicated in Jan 26 PR,” she said in a text message.
