While Los Angeles battled devastating wildfires in January 2025, leaving over 200,000 residents displaced and tragically claiming 31 lives, Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz focused on helping a different group of victims—dogs affected by the blaze.

The couple’s efforts through Nicola’s charity, Yogi’s House, raised an impressive $59,444 to rescue animals from overcrowded shelters and areas impacted by the fires.

Nicola organized fundraising events and partnered with brands to collect donations and essential supplies, posting updates on Instagram from the Pendry Hotel in West Hollywood.

A GoFundMe campaign was also set up to transport pets from danger zones to safe foster homes, highlighting the couple’s commitment to animal welfare.

Family Drama Overshadows Charity Work

The fundraising success, however, came amid tension with Brooklyn’s famous family.

According to Brooklyn, his mother, Victoria Beckham, declined Nicola’s request to support the dog rescue efforts—despite it being “the only time they had ever asked for anything.”

Brooklyn shared in a statement that the refusal was especially hurtful given the couple’s history of supporting family events, fashion shows, and public appearances for the sake of “the perfect family” image.

This conflict appears to be part of a wider rift.

Brooklyn revealed that he and Nicola have missed major family milestones, including David Beckham’s 50th birthday and knighthood celebrations, citing ongoing disagreements and personal grievances.

Brooklyn Opens Up About Long-Standing Family Tensions

Brooklyn released a detailed six-page statement on Instagram explaining his perspective.

He described a life heavily influenced by his parents, with social media image and public perception often prioritized over authentic family connections.

He also accused Victoria of interfering in significant personal moments, including Nicola’s wedding.

According to Brooklyn, Victoria canceled making Nicola’s dress at the last minute and disrupted their first dance in front of 500 guests, leaving him “humiliated.”

He also claimed repeated attempts by his parents to control him financially and emotionally, including pressuring him to sign away rights to his name before his wedding.

These actions, he says, fueled his anxiety and led him to finally step away from the family’s public narrative.

Finding Peace and Privacy with Nicola

Since stepping back from family pressures, Brooklyn says he has found relief and calm.

He emphasized that his marriage with Nicola is built on peace, privacy, and mutual respect—far removed from the performative expectations of the Beckham brand.

He also defended Nicola, noting she has been “consistently disrespected” by his family, yet remains dedicated to their shared causes, including charitable work for displaced animals during the wildfires.

Brooklyn concluded by rejecting any reconciliation with his family at this time, highlighting that his priority is building a life centered on genuine happiness with his wife rather than public image or media-driven drama.

The Beckham Family Responds to the Fires

Despite the personal disagreements, both Victoria and David Beckham publicly expressed sorrow over the LA wildfires.

Victoria called the devastation “truly heartbreaking” in an Instagram post, praising first responders and offering prayers for those affected.

David echoed her sentiments, emphasizing the importance of supporting organizations on the ground during the crisis.
