Neymar, the PSG superstar, has received the renowned Samba Gold trophy for the fifth time in a row.
After scoring 17 goals and providing 18 assists for PSG in 2021, Neymar, 29, was granted the prestigious accolade for the second year in a row, which is given to the finest Brazilian footballer playing outside of the country.
The award is given to the best Brazilian footballer who is currently playing outside of Brazil.
Neymar has won the Samba Gold medal five times in the last nine years since coming to Europe in 2013. Prior to Neymar, Thiago Silva of Chelsea dominated the Samba Gold award from 2011 to 2013, winning it while playing for AC Milan and PSG.
Neymar was handed the prize in both 2014 and 2015, before earning it again in 2017 after then-Liverpool ace Phillipe Coutinho was named winner in 2016.
Another two Liverpool stars, Roberto Firmino and Alisson, were then awarded the honour in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
