A Trip Down Memory Lane: Newcastle vs Ipswich Town, 2002

In this edition of Teamsheet, we’re taking you back to a memorable match between Newcastle United and Ipswich Town from 2002.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw, but it wasn’t just the result that had fans buzzing.

Marcus Bent of Ipswich scored twice, which ultimately dashed Newcastle’s faint hopes of clinching the Premier League title that season.

To make matters worse for the Magpies, they missed a penalty in stoppage time, adding to the heartbreak.

Can You Name the Starting Line-Up?

Now, it’s your turn to dive into the past. Your challenge is simple – can you name the starting line-up that Newcastle United fielded for this game? It’s all for fun, so give it your best shot and see how well you do! Don’t forget to share your score afterward.

How to Play Teamsheet

The rules are simple, but the game can be tricky! The objective is to score as few points as possible, so pay attention.

  • Guessing a player correctly on the first try earns you just one point.

  • The lowest possible score, if you guess every player correctly on the first try, is 11 points.

  • When you guess a letter correctly in the right position, it turns green. A correct letter but in the wrong position turns yellow.

  • You have six guesses per player. If you don’t get it right, the player’s identity will be revealed for 11 points.

  • Want an extra hint? You can ask for a free letter, but be warned – it will cost you a point!

So, will you be able to name all the players and achieve the perfect score, or will you be left guessing and rack up points? Give it a try and see how you fare!

Good luck, and enjoy the game!
