As the Premier League transfer window heats up, Newcastle United find themselves back in the hunt for a striker, with Goncalo Ramos of Paris Saint-Germain emerging as a genuine option.

The Magpies are navigating a delicate situation with Alexander Isak pushing for a move to Liverpool, prompting the club to explore alternative forwards.

Ramos Returns to Newcastle’s Radar

Ramos, 24, had appeared on Newcastle’s shortlist earlier this month, but initial enquiries suggested a move was unlikely.

Sources now indicate that the Portugal international is once again a live option for the Magpies.

Those inside St James’ Park admire Ramos’ potential, and intermediaries have signaled that a deal could be achievable if all parties align.

PSG Prefer Permanent Move Over Loan

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly more willing to sell Ramos outright rather than consider a loan, and he is now on a narrowing list of strikers Newcastle are actively pursuing.

While Ramos recently scored in PSG’s UEFA Super Cup victory over Tottenham, his post-match interview hinted at a commitment to the French champions.

Still, with limited starts under Luis Enrique, a move to Tyneside could offer him regular Premier League football and a bigger role on the pitch.

Newcastle’s Striker Plan Remains Focused

Newcastle’s strategy revolves around signing two strikers before the transfer window closes, which would also smooth the path for Isak’s potential Liverpool transfer.

Yoane Wissa from Brentford is expected to arrive next week as part of this plan.

However, manager Eddie Howe is determined not to compromise on either quality or character, meaning that the club could opt to retain Isak if the right deals don’t materialize before the September 1 deadline.

Ramos’ Track Record at PSG

In terms of numbers, Ramos has netted 34 goals in 88 appearances for PSG, though only 34 of those outings were starts.

His goal-scoring record and versatility make him an appealing candidate for Newcastle as they continue to reshape their attack ahead of a demanding Premier League season.
