Eerie UFO Sightings Continue in New Jersey
As we kick off the new year, New Jersey residents aren’t letting go of their bizarre encounters with unidentified flying objects .
While reports of strange, drone-like UFOs seem to have slowed during the holidays, more and more people are still sharing their unsettling experiences.
For instance, in Manalapan Township, two witnesses recorded an astonishing sighting just days before Christmas.
They filmed a large, 25 to 50-foot-long black triangle UFO performing a high-G maneuver over a residential area.
The UFO’s brief appearance lasted about a minute before it sped off towards McGuire Joint Base, matching a pattern of similar sightings near U.S. military bases in recent years.
Classic Flying Saucer or Something More?
It wasn’t just the triangle-shaped UFOs that had people talking.
Another skywatcher near Atlantic City captured footage of what they described as a traditional “flying saucer” with a strange haze surrounding it, just three miles off the coast.
That wasn’t the end of it, though.
More reports surfaced this past Wednesday, with one witness claiming to have spotted 20 to 30 drones that “hovered like miniature aircraft” in the sky.
One of them even shot up into the atmosphere before disappearing.
The sheer number of drones left people feeling uneasy.
The Decline in Official Reports
Some experts believe the drop in official UFO reports can be attributed to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ramping up drone flight restrictions across the tri-state area.
However, others, including Rob D’Amico, the former head of the FBI’s counter-drone unit, think the sightings were more likely to be false alarms fueled by mass hysteria.
D’Amico argued that most of these UFOs were probably just manned aircraft, as people are simply noticing more of the planes that fly above them.
Eyewitness Accounts Persist
Despite federal investigators brushing off many of the claims, local witnesses continue to report strange encounters.
Rich Vellucci, for example, spotted a large drone buzzing low over his in-laws’ house in Somerset this Christmas.
It was moving much lower than the average airplane and was roughly the size of a private jet.
Interestingly, Somerset is located about 30 miles south of Newark airport, a hub for international flights.
Similarly, driver Richie Sougstad reported seeing 20 to 30 drones hovering in northern New Jersey. While most of the drones stayed still, two of them moved: one slowly at about 20 mph, while another shot up into the sky
. Sougstad was especially struck by how silently the drones hovered like helicopters, despite their larger-than-truck size.
Speculation About the UFOs’ Origins
The strange characteristics of these UFOs are hard to ignore.
A couple of weeks ago, two witnesses in Manalapan reported a black triangle UFO they observed from just 400 yards away.
Despite its speed, the craft made no sound and was eerily silent, prompting them to speculate that it might be a TR-3B, a rumored anti-gravity spy plane created by Northrop in the 1990s.
Other reports add to the mystery, including a witness who saw a “shaking” flying saucer off the coast of Atlantic City, followed by a strange red light that flew rapidly through the sky.
The person was able to capture video of the UFO but not the light, which only added to the mystery.
Government Takes Notice
Even though official reports have slowed, New Jersey Senator Andy Kim recently updated his constituents on the ongoing investigations.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is using a range of high-tech tools, such as thermal sensors, drone radar, and visual monitors, to track and detect any unusual aerial activity.
However, not all experts are convinced these UFO sightings are entirely harmless.
Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick, the former head of the Pentagon’s UFO office, warned in a recent op-ed that these drones could be part of a test by “bad actors”—whether foreign or domestic—to probe U.S. defense capabilities.
He suggested that operators might be testing how the public and government react to these strange craft, and the data could potentially be used for more malicious purposes in the future.
The Mystery Continues
With all the strange happenings and expert opinions floating around, the mystery of the UFOs in New Jersey remains unsolved.
Whether these sightings are simply the result of heightened awareness or something more sinister, it seems like the phenomenon is far from over.
As more residents come forward with their stories, it’s clear that the question of what’s flying overhead still isn’t settled.
