Netflix Premieres Three-Part Documentary About Fred and Rose West and the 12 Women They Murdered at 25 Cromwell Street in Gloucester

The twisted story of Fred and Rose West, Britain’s most infamous serial killers, continues to haunt the nation.

Between the late 1960s and 1987, the couple murdered at least 12 women and girls, leaving a trail of devastation that would forever change the lives of their victims’ families.

They lured vulnerable young women into their Gloucester home, 25 Cromwell Street, which would become known as the “House of Horrors.”

It was there, behind what appeared to be an ordinary house, that they carried out their horrific crimes.

Fred West, who was charged with 12 murders, took his own life in 1995 while awaiting trial.

Rose West, his wife and accomplice, was convicted of 10 murders and is currently serving a full life sentence without parole.

But while their story is infamous, there are still questions left unanswered—who were the 12 women whose lives were brutally cut short by this evil couple?

Netflix’s New Documentary Series

On May 14, Netflix will release a three-part documentary series that sheds new light on the crimes of Fred and Rose West.

The series will include interviews with family members of some of their victims, many of whom are speaking out publicly for the first time.

These emotional accounts will give a rare and harrowing insight into the lives of the victims and the trauma their families experienced.

As the world continues to try to understand how such a monstrous couple could exist, the documentary will also serve as a chilling reminder of the horrors that took place in that seemingly quiet house in Gloucester.

Here’s a look at the 12 women and girls who became victims of Fred and Rose West’s violent spree.

Ann McFall: The First Victim?

Ann McFall, who came from Scotland, is believed to be Fred West’s first murder victim.

In the mid-1960s, Ann, just 18 years old, moved to Gloucester and began working as a nanny for Fred’s children.

At first, Fred’s advances were unwelcome, but he managed to convince her to start an affair.

Pregnant with his child, Ann went missing in 1967.

Her body was later found in a field near Kempley, not far from Fred’s childhood home, her unborn child by her side.

Catherine ‘Rena’ Costello: The First Wife

Catherine ‘Rena’ Costello, Fred’s first wife, was also from Scotland.

She had a strong personality and was reportedly more than a match for Fred.

Their relationship, which began with a marriage in 1962, quickly soured, with Fred becoming physically and sexually violent.

In 1969, after their daughter Charmaine was murdered by Rose, Rena left Fred, only to meet a gruesome end herself.

Fred strangled her and dismembered her body, which was later found in a field near Kempley, the same location as Ann McFall’s remains.

Charmaine West: Fred’s Daughter, Rose’s First Victim

Charmaine West, Fred’s daughter from his first marriage, would become Rose’s first victim.

Rose, who moved in with Fred when she was just 16, had a contentious relationship with Charmaine.

The young girl defied Rose’s strict rules, which led to a violent outburst.

Rose murdered Charmaine in a fit of rage, and her body was hidden in the coal cellar at Fred and Rose’s home in Gloucester, only to be discovered years later.

Lynda Gough: A Student with a Troubled Future

Lynda Gough, a 19-year-old from Gloucester, was described as naive and possibly involved with several of the lodgers at the West’s home. In April 1973, she vanished without a trace.

Her remains were later discovered in a garage that had been converted into a bathroom.

Fred West initially denied knowing anything about her disappearance, but eventually confessed to her murder.

Carol Ann Cooper: A Teenager Who Never Made It Home

Fifteen-year-old Carol Ann Cooper from Luton was granted permission to visit her grandmother in November 1973.

After a night out, she vanished while hitchhiking back home.

Despite extensive investigations, it wasn’t until years later that her remains were found beneath the Wests’ cellar floor.

It is believed Fred and Rose had given her a lift, ultimately taking her life.

Lucy Partington: A Student Gone Missing

Lucy Partington, a 21-year-old university student from St Albans, had come home for the Christmas holidays in December 1973.

She vanished after leaving a friend’s house, and her disappearance sparked a huge search.

It’s believed that Fred and Rose West picked her up while she was waiting for a bus.

Her body was found under the Wests’ home, marking another senseless loss.

Therese Siegenthaler: The Swiss Student

Therese Siegenthaler, a 21-year-old from Switzerland, moved to England to pursue secretarial studies in the 1970s.

In Easter 1974, while hitchhiking to visit a friend in Ireland, Therese disappeared.

Her remains were later discovered under the floorboards of the Wests’ home.

Despite an investigation, her case went unsolved for years, further adding to the mystery surrounding Fred and Rose’s crimes.

Shirley Hubbard: The Youngest Victim

Shirley Hubbard, a 15-year-old from Birmingham, was the youngest of the West’s victims discovered at their home on Cromwell Street.

She went missing on November 14, 1974, and her remains were later found beneath the cellar floor.

Shirley had been a student at Droitwich High School and had been working at Debenhams before her disappearance.

Juanita Mott: A Rebellious Teen Gone Without a Trace

Juanita Mott, an 18-year-old from Gloucester, disappeared in April 1975.

Known for her rebellious nature, Juanita was last seen leaving for a friend’s wedding but never returned.

Her remains were later found at Fred and Rose West’s home, buried under the garden.

Shirley Anne Robinson: Pregnant and Missing

Shirley Anne Robinson, 18, from Leicestershire, had an affair with Fred West while living as a lodger in the West’s home.

At eight months pregnant with Fred’s child, she went missing in May 1979.

Her body and her unborn child were found buried in the garden of the Wests’ home.

Alison Chambers: The Teenage Girl Who Disappeared

Alison Chambers, a 16-year-old from West Germany, had been living in a children’s home in Gloucester.

She disappeared just before her 17th birthday in August 1979.

Despite being reported as an absconder from care, Alison’s body was later discovered buried in the garden of the Wests’ home.

Heather West: The Final Victim

Heather West, Fred and Rose’s eldest daughter, was the final known victim of the couple’s horrifying killing spree.

Heather, who had been sexually abused throughout her life, was murdered by her parents in 1987 at the age of 16.

Her body was discovered beneath the patio of their home on Cromwell Street.

It was the most tragic and disturbing act of the Wests’ reign of terror.
