Drug Raids Lead to Multiple Arrests in South Africa

In Goodwood, Cape Town, two individuals have been arrested following a raid conducted by the South African Police Service’s Anti-Gang Unit.

Acting on intelligence, the operation resulted in the discovery of drugs with an estimated street value of R75,000.

The 34-year-old suspect is expected to face charges and appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court.

Meanwhile, in the Free State, three arrests have been made in two separate drug-related busts within the past 24 hours.

In Winnie Park, Bromville, a 50-year-old man was apprehended based on information from the public.

He was found in possession of 330 Mandrax tablets and cash, leading to charges of drug dealing.

In Thabong, police seized Mandrax tablets, crystal meth, and cash from a residential premises.

A 62-year-old man attempted to evade arrest but was quickly captured, while a 39-year-old woman was arrested for possession of Mandrax tablets.

The suspects from the Free State arrests are scheduled to appear in the Welkom Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

In Kimberley, a major drug bust took place, resulting in the arrest of two alleged drug dealers.

During the raid in the parking area of the North Cape Mall, a hearse belonging to a local funeral parlour was inspected.

Inside the vehicle, a compartment in the back revealed Mandrax and Tik, leading to the confiscation of 2,450 Mandrax tablets valued at approximately R180,000, as well as 8 bags of Tik worth R45,000.

The police also seized an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds from drug sales.

The owner of the funeral parlour, who was driving the hearse at the time, and a 34-year-old male passenger were arrested and charged with drug dealing.

The two suspects are expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court.
