A devastating incident unfolded at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona on Monday afternoon, when a private jet collided with another plane on the runway.

The crash, which occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. MT, has left multiple people feared dead, with at least one confirmed fatality.

Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, and two other individuals were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Immediate Response

According to Scottsdale Airport officials, the crash happened as the planes were arriving at runway 21. The airport’s fire department responded swiftly to assess the situation.

In the wake of the crash, the airport temporarily closed the runway, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that two private jets collided.

Flights into the airport have been paused as authorities investigate the incident.

Aircraft Involved

The collision involved a Learjet 35A, which veered off the runway after landing and crashed into a Gulfstream 200 business jet that was on the ramp.

At the moment, the FAA has not disclosed the number of people on board either plane.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Cost of the Aircraft

The aircraft involved in the crash were high-value jets. A new Learjet 35A can cost around $4.8 million, while a Gulfstream G200 ranges between $2.85 million and $7.2 million, according to Paramount Business Jets.

Disturbing Images from the Scene

Social media images shared after the crash show two severely damaged planes on the runway, surrounded by emergency responders working to assess the damage and provide assistance.

The sight is both shocking and heartbreaking, as first responders continue their efforts.

A Devastating Trend in Aviation

This incident follows closely on the heels of another tragic aviation event.

Last Thursday, a Bering Air flight carrying 10 people went missing while flying over Alaska.

The small aircraft disappeared off radar while traveling from Unalakleet to Nome.

It was later found crashed 34 miles southeast of its intended destination.

Sadly, all 10 people on board perished, and their remains have since been recovered.

As this story continues to develop, authorities are working diligently to uncover more details about both crashes.
