When Elynn Enneper was born, she weighed a healthy 6lbs 11oz and appeared to have a bright future ahead. Sadly, that future was shattered at just three months old, when a tragic incident would change her life forever.
Elynn’s father, Vincent, admitted to dropping her onto a hardwood floor in an attempt to stop her crying.
The injury resulted in multiple skull fractures, internal bleeding, and severe brain displacement.
At the hospital, doctors feared she wouldn’t survive, especially when she began having seizures.
But after a surgery to drain fluid from her brain, Elynn’s life was saved.
Yet, the consequences of that moment would be permanent.
Life After the Tragedy
Now five years old, Elynn is living with the aftermath of the brain injury. She has no vision in her right eye, suffers from cerebral palsy, and has limited mobility.
Her daily life is a challenge, but it’s made even more difficult by the fact that her father, who caused her injuries, is no longer a part of her life.
Vincent was sentenced to 10 years in prison for child abuse and recklessly causing great bodily harm.
His actions have left a permanent scar on Elynn’s life, and her mother, Jordan, is sharing their story to raise awareness about the lasting damage caused by child abuse.
Vincent’s Confession
Vincent, who was 25 at the time of the incident, initially claimed that the drop was accidental.
He told police that he had been trying to feed Elynn when she began to squirm and, in frustration, he dropped her. However, Jordan later discovered the truth after her own horrifying realization.
When she came home from work on January 8, 2020, she found Elynn lying on the floor with a bulging face and a flat head. Elynn was unresponsive and having seizures.
Jordan rushed her to the hospital, where doctors confirmed that Elynn had sustained significant head trauma.
Desperate for Answers
Upon arrival at the hospital, Jordan was told by Child Protective Services (CPS) and a detective that Vincent had intentionally dropped Elynn.
The police investigation revealed the extent of the abuse, and Vincent was arrested.
Jordan recalls her shock and fear as she looked at her daughter, who was hooked up to machines and struggling to survive.
“At that moment, I was scared my daughter was going to die,” she said.
Elynn was placed into a medically induced coma while the medical team worked to stabilize her.
Elynn’s Recovery Against the Odds
Despite the severity of her injuries, Elynn showed remarkable signs of improvement.
After surgery to drain the fluid around her brain, Elynn slowly regained consciousness.
Her recovery was a slow and steady process, but as time went on, it became clear that she was defying the odds.
Elynn spent a month in the hospital before being discharged, but she has since had to undergo additional surgeries to help her cope with the damage done to her body and brain.
Jordan is both grateful and heartbroken as she watches her daughter continue to fight.
“When she started being able to walk, that was one of the most emotional parts of my life,” Jordan said, recalling the joy she felt when Elynn finally took her first steps.
Though Elynn is still unsteady on her feet, she can now walk and play with her brother, something her mother never thought would be possible.
Seeking Justice and Moving Forward
Elynn’s life may never be the same, but Jordan has found solace in knowing that Vincent will serve time for his actions.
Vincent was sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by five years of extended supervision and three years of probation.
Jordan feels a sense of justice knowing that her children will be safe from him, and she continues to protect them from the trauma caused by their father’s violence.
As Elynn continues to grow, Jordan is working to ensure she gets the support and care she needs to thrive despite her disabilities.
“Elynn is a very happy child, and she’s beaten all the odds,” Jordan said.
Her daughter’s resilience and strength are a testament to her mother’s determination to provide her with the best life possible, no matter the challenges they face.
