In a move that caught many fans off guard, former Orlando Pirates winger Mohau Nkota has officially joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq.

The 20-year-old made waves last season in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) with standout performances for the Buccaneers, making this transfer a major talking point.

A Breakout Season with the Buccaneers

Nkota’s debut season for Orlando Pirates showcased his talent and potential.

He appeared in 39 matches across all competitions, netting five goals and playing a pivotal role in guiding the team to the CAF Champions League semi-finals.

His speed and skill on the flanks, especially alongside Relebohile Mofokeng, made him a fan favorite and a key contributor on the pitch.

The Surprise Move to Al-Ettifaq

The youngster officially joined Al-Ettifaq in July during the club’s pre-season camp in Spain.

Nkota revealed how secretive the process was. “They told me I mustn’t say anything because if I tell one person, it’s gone,” he explained.

He also shared how he broke the news to Mofokeng: “He was happy for me.

I talked to him after they announced, I sat with him on the bus. Everyone took out their phones, and they were surprised.”

Back on South African Soil

Despite the transfer, Nkota was recently spotted supporting his former team from the stands during Orlando Pirates’ MTN8 semi-final clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Buccaneers managed to secure a late draw in the first leg, with Nkota cheering on familiar faces and keeping a close eye on the action.

What Lies Ahead in Saudi Arabia

As Nkota embarks on this new chapter with Al-Ettifaq, fans are eager to see if he can replicate his PSL success in the Saudi Pro League.

His pace, skill, and experience in high-stakes matches could make him a valuable asset for his new club.
