Boxing enthusiasts have something unexpected to look forward to: Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather are reportedly set to face off in an exhibition bout in 2026.
The announcement came from promoter CSI Sports on Thursday, though the exact date and location remain under wraps.
The fight is expected to take place in “Spring 2026,” giving fans plenty of time to speculate.
Tyson’s Legendary Career and Comeback
Mike Tyson, once dubbed the “Baddest Man on the Planet,” is no stranger to the spotlight.
Now 59, he compiled an impressive 50-7 record with 44 knockouts during his prime, cementing his place as one of the most feared heavyweights of all time.
Tyson last stepped into the ring in November, taking on YouTuber-turned-prizefighter Jake Paul in Arlington, Texas.
The bout ended in a one-sided defeat for Tyson, as he struggled to land punches over eight rounds.
Despite that, around 70,000 fans were in attendance, with millions more tuning in worldwide.
Mayweather’s Undefeated Record
Floyd Mayweather, 48, retired from professional boxing in 2017 unbeaten at 50-0, having captured world titles across five different weight classes.
Though retired, Mayweather hasn’t entirely left the ring behind.
In August 2024, he appeared in an exhibition match against John Gotti III in Mexico, adding another victory to his exhibition record.
A Fight No One Expected
Tyson admitted he was shocked when the offer came through.
“When CSI came to me about stepping in the ring with Floyd Mayweather I thought, ‘No way this happens,’” he said in a statement.
But Mayweather said yes, and now fans are in for what Tyson described as a fight neither he nor the world ever imagined.
“Boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable, and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets,” Tyson added.
