Taylor has an undefeated record of 22-0 and holds all the gold at 135. However, Taylor will move up to light-welterweight to challenge fellow undisputed champion Chantelle Cameron in her native Ireland next month.

This opens the door for Mayer to challenge Taylor’s WBC belt, with the winner of her fight against Lucy Wildheart taking home the interim title.

Mayer believes that her extensive amateur career and professional style give her an edge over Taylor.

Mayer has changed divisions after losing the WBO and IBF super featherweight titles last year.

In an exclusive interview with Daily Star Sport, Mayer stated that Taylor has almost created an amateur style and has not changed much since turning pro.

Mayer believes that Taylor’s style has worked for her against sound pros like Amanda Serrano, but it is not diverse.

In contrast, Mayer believes that she is a more diverse fighter who can fight in all areas of the ring.

She has both extensive amateur and pro experience, and Coach Al is focused on instilling a pro style into her.

Mayer plans to stay behind her jab, dig into the body, and set up body shots.

She thinks that her style combined is going to be tricky, and no one has been able to get through Taylor’s tricky style either.

Although Mayer recognizes that Taylor perfected and almost created that style, she believes that she has all the experience necessary to end Taylor’s reign.

Mayer has a great corner and will have a great game plan, assuming that fight ever comes to fruition.

She wants to fight Taylor, and she hopes that will happen, but first, she needs to win her upcoming fight against Wildheart.

Mayer’s fight against former IBO champion Wildheart will take place as the co-feature of Joe Joyce’s heavyweight clash with Zhilei Zhang at the Copper Box Arena, live on BT Sport.

Victory will make Mayer the interim holder for undisputed lightweight champ Taylor’s WBC belt.

It won’t be an easy fight for Mayer, and she needs to stay focused on this match if she wants to fight Taylor in the future.
