Meghan Markle showcases her favourite British fashion brand WNU by wearing the iconic Boyfriend Shirt in her latest style picks

It’s no secret Meghan Markle has a knack for making even the simplest outfits look effortlessly chic.

When she launched her ShopMy account earlier this year, her list of favourite fashion, beauty, and lifestyle items gave us a peek into her go-to style staples.

Among them? A striped boyfriend shirt from the British label WNU — short for With Nothing Underneath.

At first, I was surprised to see it on her list, but the more I thought about it, the more it made perfect sense.

After all, Meghan has always had a soft spot for relaxed, classic shirts — anyone remember the crisp white “Husband” shirt she wore during her very first public appearance with Prince Harry?

The Brand That Nails Effortless Style

Founded in 2017 by former Vogue stylist and Tatler editor Pip Durrell, WNU specialises in timeless, tailored pieces designed to last far beyond seasonal trends.

Think oversized shirts, relaxed trousers, and fabrics chosen for comfort and longevity.

The designs are deliberately pared back — exactly the kind of easy elegance Meghan is known for.

WNU first appeared in Meghan’s wardrobe back in 2019, when she wore a blue and white linen shirt during a visit to Smart Works.

She’s been spotted in the brand several times since, including a blue linen shirt while filming her Netflix series.

Visiting WNU’s Belgravia Store

Curious to experience the brand for myself, I popped into WNU’s flagship store in Belgravia.

The space is light-filled, beautifully minimal, and welcoming.

The B Corp-certified label offers a mix of core pieces and seasonal updates, all made with sustainably sourced fabrics like linen, seersucker, wool, and Tencel Lyocell. The shirt shapes come in four styles:

  • Boyfriend – relaxed fit, longer length

  • Classic – regular fit and length

  • Weekend – oversized fit, regular length

  • Oversized – extra oversized fit, longer length

Why the Boyfriend Style Wins Me Over

At just under 5’8″, I’ve often struggled to find shirts that hit the right length — but the Boyfriend shirt nails it.

It’s got a slightly “borrowed from the boys” fit, with exaggerated cuffs and a relaxed drape that feels effortlessly flattering.

Even better, the quality is undeniable, right down to the menswear-style button placement.

They even have a personalisation station where you can have your initials embroidered onto the cuff.

It’s a small detail, but it makes the shirt feel completely yours.

My Try-On Session: The Standout Pieces

Boyfriend Shirt in Navy Blue Stripe

This one was love at first sight — a rich navy stripe on silky Tencel Lyocell fabric that barely needs ironing.

I paired it with straight-leg jeans and flats, but it would also look amazing with white denim or tucked into wide-leg trousers.

Boyfriend Shirt in Powder Blue Stripe

Same fit as the navy version, but in a softer sky blue. It feels lighter, more relaxed, and perfect with dark denim for contrast.

Boyfriend Shirt in Midnight Blue Stripe

Meghan’s exact shirt. Organic cotton poplin, narrow stripes, timeless enough for work or weekends.

Going Beyond Shirts: The Co-Ords

Weekend Shirt and Boxer Shorts in Rain Blue

Boxy and oversized in breezy seersucker — perfect for throwing into a suitcase.

Classic Shirt and Boxer Shorts in Navy

Breathable linen in a deep navy shade that flatters everyone.

Weekend Shirt and Boxer Shorts in Mocha Stripe

My personal favourite co-ord — soft organic cotton with a slightly puckered texture.

Works as holiday wear or dressed up for summer evenings.

The One That Got Away

The Oversized Shirt in Patchwork, with its mix of pinstripes and bold colour blocks, was sadly sold out in my size at the store.

Thankfully, it’s still available online — and yes, it’s already in my basket.

My Final Pick

I couldn’t resist the Boyfriend Shirt in Navy Blue Stripe. I even had my initials stitched in bold red embroidery at the store’s personalisation corner — the perfect finishing touch to a shirt I know I’ll wear for years.
