Meghan Markle is turning heads once again, this time not on the red carpet but in the kitchen.
The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly sold close to a million jars of her As Ever fruit spreads and is gearing up to take her lifestyle brand beyond the U.S., according to insiders.
Earlier this week, eagle-eyed internet users stumbled upon a glitch on the As Ever website that revealed surprisingly large stock numbers.
One example: the Signature Fruit Spread Box appeared to have 137,465 units available.
Many online observers jumped to the conclusion that this meant sales were sluggish—but sources suggest it was actually a fraction of the total million-jar order.
The Numbers Behind the Success
The Signature Fruit Spread Box, priced at £31 ($42), alone could have generated around £26.7 million in revenue.
A source familiar with the brand told The Sun, “Business isn’t just good—it’s flying off the shelves.
Meghan inadvertently revealed that one million jars were ordered, and only 130,000 remain.”
The glitch reportedly allowed shoppers to see exact stock numbers after attempting to add huge quantities of items to their cart.
Reddit user InfiniteSky55 said they tried adding 200,000 of each product, which triggered the site to display the maximum stock available.
According to the leaked data, stock levels across the As Ever range looked something like this:
-
Signature Fruit Spread Box ($42/£31): 137,465
-
Fruit Spread Trio ($36/£27): 44,960
-
Honey Duo Gift Box ($62/£46): 24,238
-
Orange Marmalade ($12/£9): 44,612
-
Flower Sprinkles ($15/£11): 80,391
-
Sage Honey with Honeycomb ($32/£24): 8,587
-
Spiced Cider Mulling Spice Kit ($16/£12): 14,154
-
Hot Toddy Mulling Spice Kit ($16/£12): 15,989
-
Signature Candles & Herbal Teas: tens of thousands each
-
Wines (Brut, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé): over 77,000 bottles combined
Altogether, more than half a million lifestyle products were listed for sale, alongside tens of thousands of wine bottles.
From Website Glitch to Purchase Limits
After the stock revelation went viral, As Ever quickly updated its website to fix the glitch.
New limits now prevent bulk buying, restricting customers to 50 spread boxes or 20 bottles of wine per order.
Attempts to add larger quantities trigger error messages directing shoppers to contact support.
Meghan herself has hinted that the large stock is intentional.
In a recent Bloomberg interview, she explained that As Ever was preparing for a global launch: “We prepped for the second seasonal drop and multiplied our inventory by ten.
We thought it would last a couple of weeks—it sold out in hours.”
Scaling Up Without Losing the “Homegrown” Feel
As Ever started as a cozy, home-based project but has grown into a more industrial operation.
Some of the teas, for instance, are produced by a factory in Illinois and sold at a markup.
While The Republic of Tea makes 36 hibiscus bags for $11.50, Meghan’s 12-bag tins sell for $12.
Sources insist that even with larger-scale production, the brand remains authentic.
Factory-made versions of spreads and honeys are adapted from Meghan’s original recipes, aiming to preserve both flavor and quality.
She has openly discussed the challenges of scaling home recipes while maintaining consistency, calling it “tedious” but necessary.
A Lifestyle Brand With Netflix Roots
As Ever grew out of Meghan’s collaboration with Netflix, rebranding from her previous venture, American Orchard Riviera.
The brand is linked to her show With Love, Meghan, where she shares cooking and lifestyle tips.
While the show’s first season didn’t hit Netflix’s top 300 and received lukewarm reviews, Meghan and Harry recently signed a new “first-look” deal with the streaming platform.
Looking ahead, As Ever plans to expand internationally, introduce new products like chocolate and a cookbook, and continue building a multi-million-dollar lifestyle brand.
Although Meghan will share some profits with Netflix and reinvest in the business, the success of nearly one million jars of jam shows that her venture is already making a serious mark.
