Tragic news has hit the music world: Maxon Margiela, the 21-year-old rapper who was quickly making a name for himself, has died in Miami.
Born Mason Reyes, Margiela had captured the hearts of fans with his viral hit Austin Powers and a string of other rising tracks.
Family and colleagues confirmed the devastating news, with his sister announcing it on social media.
Hospitalization After a Suicide Attempt
According to reports, Margiela had been hospitalized following a suicide attempt just a week prior to his death.
Despite medical care, he later passed away, as confirmed by the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office.
An official cause of death has not yet been released.
A Rapid Rise in the Music Scene
Though his career was just beginning, Margiela had already started to leave a significant mark.
His debut project, #healthy, dropped in November 2024 and quickly gained traction.
By the time of his passing, he had more than 100,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
Earlier this year, he signed a deal with Columbia Records and released his mixtape Filthy in July, followed by additional tracks in October.
