In today’s fast-paced digital world, having the right skills and knowledge in technology and innovation can open doors to incredible opportunities.
Recognizing this, the Mastercard Foundation has teamed up with Arizona State University (ASU) to offer a fantastic chance for young African professionals to advance their careers through fully funded master’s scholarships.
What the Scholarship Offers
Over the next five years, from 2025 to 2030, 120 African scholars will be trained in cutting-edge technology and innovation fields through immersive, on-campus graduate programs at ASU.
This is a traditional two-year master’s program designed to prepare students for leadership roles in the global digital economy.
For the 2026/2027 academic year, there are 30 scholarships available.
These cover everything—from tuition and books to accommodation and medical expenses.
Plus, scholars will get involved in the broader Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, which includes leadership training, personalized mentorship, and a variety of enriching events.
Opportunities Beyond the Classroom
Students won’t just be hitting the books. While studying, scholars have the chance to work part-time on campus, possibly with ASU’s Baobab Platform team or other campus groups.
In between the first and second year, scholars will also participate in a two-month internship tailored to their area of study, gaining real-world experience.
