What started as a seemingly normal night in the Costa del Sol quickly turned into a chilling ordeal for one couple.
Pilar and her partner Alex were completely unaware of the horror that unfolded in their bedroom while they slept — until they reviewed their CCTV footage the next day.
They originally suspected a break-in after noticing €300 missing from their home in Marbella on June 2.
But what they uncovered on camera was far more unsettling than missing cash.
Caught on Camera: Intruder Stares at Woman While She Sleeps
As Pilar and Alex combed through their home security footage, they were horrified to find a masked intruder quietly entering their bedroom multiple times over a 32-minute period.
The man wasn’t just there to steal — he appeared fixated on Pilar as she lay asleep and naked in bed.
In the haunting footage, the burglar is seen creeping back and forth from their bedroom, turning a flashlight on Pilar’s body each time he returned.
He entered the room a total of eight times, seemingly to stare at her private parts.
“He didn’t come to rob us. He came for something else,” Pilar said in an emotional statement to local media.
Fear for What Could Have Happened
What’s even more terrifying is what could have happened.
Pilar said she had been alone the night before the break-in and shudders to think what might’ve occurred if the man had entered then.
Her 18-year-old son was asleep in the next room when the intruder broke in.
“That man didn’t come to steal — he came to do something to me,” she repeated, still shaken by the experience.
Alex, her partner, described how Pilar felt deeply violated and called the man “a sick predator.”
Lasting Trauma and Psychological Scars
Since the break-in, Pilar has been left traumatised.
She now suffers from recurring nightmares and can no longer sleep unless every door and window in the house is tightly shut.
The psychological toll has been severe.
Pilar is currently undergoing therapy to help cope with the mental and emotional impact of the incident.
Police Launch Investigation as Burglar Remains on the Loose
Local authorities are actively investigating the case.
They believe the intruder entered the couple’s home through a terrace door.
The security footage is now being reviewed in hopes of identifying the suspect, but so far, no arrests have been made.
Not an Isolated Case: San Pedro Prowler Targets Other Homes
Disturbingly, this break-in appears to be part of a broader trend.
British expats living in the area have been warned after a string of burglaries rocked upscale neighbourhoods across Marbella and Benahavis.
The same masked man, now nicknamed the San Pedro Prowler, has been spotted breaking into homes between San Pedro de Alcantara and Benahavis.
His pattern is eerily consistent — breaking in silently, often in socks to muffle his footsteps, and stealing valuables without waking anyone.
Expats Urged to Step Up Home Security Measures
The prowler has walked off with luxury handbags, jewellery, and even large amounts of cash.
In one case, he reportedly stole €10,000 in cash and a €30,000 watch.
He’s known to carry a sharp tool, not just for lock-picking, but potentially as a weapon.
So far, he has hit neighbourhoods like Guadalmina and La Quinta — some of the most exclusive addresses in the region.
With no one caught and no leads announced, residents are being urged to tighten their home security and review their own footage in case they’ve unknowingly been targeted too.
