Imagine waking up thinking you just had a normal night’s sleep—only to find out someone had been standing over you while you were unconscious, watching you in the dark.
That’s the horror one couple in Spain faced after a routine check of their CCTV footage revealed a deeply disturbing intrusion.
Pilar and her partner, Alex, had no idea something so terrifying had occurred inside their Costa del Sol home.
Initially, they noticed €300 missing from their property in Marbella on June 2.
But the real shock came when they reviewed the security footage.
Masked Stranger Lurks in Bedroom for Over 30 Minutes
The couple’s security camera captured footage of a masked man sneaking into their bedroom while they were asleep.
What’s worse? He didn’t just come in once—he returned eight times over a 32-minute period, each time fixating his flashlight on Pilar, who was sleeping nude.
The man’s behavior wasn’t that of a typical burglar.
He didn’t ransack the place or hunt for valuables.
Instead, he stood over Pilar’s sleeping body, seemingly mesmerized.
According to Pilar, “He entered our bedroom eight times to look at my private parts.”
Victim Speaks Out About Trauma and Violation
Pilar, visibly shaken by what happened, has since spoken to local media about the psychological toll.
“That man didn’t come to steal,” she said.
“He came to do something to me.”
She shuddered at the thought of what could have happened if she had been home alone, as she was the night before the break-in.
Her partner, Alex, echoed her fears, calling the intruder a “sick predator.”
Pilar now sleeps with all doors and windows tightly shut and is undergoing therapy to deal with recurring nightmares and anxiety.
To make matters even more disturbing, Pilar’s 18-year-old son was asleep in the room next door when the break-in occurred.
Police Begin Hunt for Suspect But No Arrests Yet
Local authorities are actively investigating the terrifying incident.
So far, they believe the masked intruder entered the home through an unlocked terrace door.
Police are analyzing the CCTV footage to help identify the suspect, but as of now, no arrests have been made.
This unsettling incident is not isolated.
It’s part of a string of crimes that have been reported in the area, putting residents—especially expats—on high alert.
The ‘San Pedro Prowler’ Strikes Again
Coinciding with Pilar’s experience, a string of similar break-ins have plagued the region between San Pedro de Alcantara in Marbella and Benahavis.
The man believed to be behind these break-ins has been dubbed the “San Pedro Prowler” by locals.
Security footage shows this intruder, masked and wearing a grey hoodie, picking locks with a sharp object—which some fear could double as a weapon.
His odd footwear choice—only socks—suggests a calculated effort to move silently inside homes.
In one raid, he made off with luxury handbags, €10,000 in cash, and even a €30,000 watch.
Growing Fear Among Expats as Security Warnings Increase
With high-end neighborhoods like Guadalmina and La Quinta now also reporting similar incidents, expats in these affluent Spanish communities are being urged to tighten up their home security systems.
Residents now live in fear of when and where the prowler will strike next.
For Pilar and Alex, the emotional wounds will take much longer to heal than the financial loss.
As Pilar put it, “I feel violated. I can’t sleep the same anymore.”
What Happens Next?
Police continue to examine the collected footage and are appealing to the public for any information that might lead to identifying the suspect.
Meanwhile, locals are investing in upgraded alarm systems, reinforced doors, and even private security patrols.
As authorities work around the clock to catch the prowler, communities in the Costa del Sol region remain on edge—wondering who might be the predator’s next target.
