Manchester United Prepare to Sell Brazilian Winger Antony to Real Betis After Loan Success in Spain

After a summer of big departures at Old Trafford, Manchester United are reportedly getting ready to part ways with another of their high-profile attackers.

Antony, the Brazilian winger, is edging closer to a permanent move back to Real Betis, where he impressed on loan last season.

The End of the ‘Bomb Squad’ Era

Antony is one of the last remaining members of United’s so-called “Bomb Squad,” alongside Tyrell Malacia, Jadon Sancho, and Alejandro Garnacho.

Manager Ruben Amorim has effectively told the quartet to seek new opportunities, following Marcus Rashford’s high-profile loan switch to Barcelona earlier this summer.

A Familiar Spanish Stage Awaits

The 25-year-old winger made a notable impact during his loan spell at Betis in the latter half of last season.

In his first weeks at the club, Antony earned a LaLiga Player of the Month nomination and went on to net five league goals with two assists across 15 starts.

Now, United appear ready to make that return permanent.

Negotiations and Financial Details

While Daily Mail Sport reports that a deal is close, discussions are ongoing over a potential sell-on clause reportedly set at 50 percent.

Earlier claims suggested Antony had been allowed to fly to southern Spain to finalize terms, but sources indicate the transfer isn’t finalized yet.

The sale fee remains undisclosed, though it’s expected to be far below the £85 million United paid Ajax for Antony in 2022.

Mixed Success at Old Trafford

Despite lifting the FA Cup and League Cup with United, Antony has often struggled to find consistency at Old Trafford.

Over 96 appearances, he scored 12 goals and contributed nine assists, leaving him frustrated at times by his role and opportunities.

International Career and Future Prospects

On the international stage, Antony has 16 caps for Brazil.

His last appearance came in 2023, though he was recalled to the squad in June 2025, remaining an unused substitute in fixtures against Ecuador and Paraguay.

A return to Spain could offer him the platform to reignite both his club and international career.
