Manchester United increase transfer offer as Bryan Mbeumo becomes top attacking priority in push to strengthen forward line at Old Trafford

With pre-season fast approaching, Manchester United aren’t wasting any more time.

The club is pushing hard to land Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, as new boss Ruben Amorim looks to revamp an underwhelming attack ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

A New and Improved Offer on the Table

United have now returned to the negotiating table with a second offer for Mbeumo, this time worth more than £60 million.

Their earlier attempt — a £55 million package — was quickly knocked back at the start of the month.

But this latest bid signals that the Red Devils are serious about making the Cameroon international a central part of their new attacking setup.

Quiet Negotiations, Clear Intentions

Club officials have been working behind the scenes to avoid a long, drawn-out transfer saga.

While it’s not yet confirmed whether Brentford have accepted this fresh offer, United are clearly ramping things up in hopes of sealing the deal before players report back to Carrington in early July.

Amorim Wants Goals, and Mbeumo Delivers Them

Last season’s biggest headache for United? Scoring goals.

With just 44 goals in the Premier League — the second-lowest among clubs that stayed up — it’s no surprise the board has made a goal-scorer their top priority.

Director of football Jason Wilcox and Amorim are aligned on this, and Mbeumo fits the bill.

The 25-year-old racked up 20 goals last season alone and has built a reputation as one of the most consistent forwards outside the traditional top six.

Since arriving at Brentford for just £5.8 million, he’s delivered 70 goals in 242 games — 42 of those in the Premier League.

Contract Details and Timing

Mbeumo’s contract is set to expire next year, though Brentford do have the option to extend it by 12 months.

Still, that looming contract expiry gives United a bit of leverage — and perhaps urgency for Brentford to cash in now while his value is high.

If this deal gets over the line, Mbeumo would become United’s second major signing of the summer, following their £62.5 million capture of Matheus Cunha.

Silence from Old Trafford

So far, Manchester United haven’t officially commented on the second bid.

But actions speak louder than words — and all signs point to Amorim wanting his new-look frontline ready to hit the ground running in July.
