Top English clubs are keeping a close watch on young prospects at Sheffield Wednesday as the struggling Championship side battles off-field chaos.
Manchester United and Liverpool have reportedly made enquiries for 17-year-old left back Yisa Alao, a promising talent yet to sign a professional contract.
Rising Star Catches Attention
Alao’s performances at youth level have not gone unnoticed.
His impressive displays earned him a spot in Sheffield Wednesday’s first team, making his senior debut at just 16 in the Carabao Cup back in August.
He followed that up with his league debut this month against Derby County, coming on as a late substitute for Manchester United loanee Harry Amass in a 0–3 defeat.
Transfer Interest Heats Up
Manchester United are believed to have submitted a bid around £450,000 for the Doncaster-born defender.
Liverpool are reportedly considering a similar offer, while other Premier League clubs are reportedly monitoring the situation.
Sheffield Wednesday are also moving to secure contracts for other young talent, including striker Will Grainger, who is drawing attention from top-flight clubs as well.
Sheffield Wednesday’s Ongoing Struggles
The Owls are currently mired in a deep Championship crisis, sitting at the bottom of the table with minus nine points.
The club initially faced a 12-point deduction in October after filing for administration and were subsequently docked an additional six points for regulation breaches.
A Long Road Ahead
Sheffield Wednesday are now 29 points adrift of Portsmouth, who sit just above the relegation zone in 21st place.
With ownership uncertainties and key young players attracting interest from elite clubs, the future for the South Yorkshire side looks challenging, both on and off the pitch.
