Man arrested for hurling beer can at Ted Cruz during Astros parade

Police in Houston stated on Monday that they apprehended a guy who tossed a beer can towards U.S. Senator Ted Cruz during the Astros’ World Series celebration parade.

The Texas senator was on a float in the parade when he was struck with a beer can, according to a tweet from the Houston police department. The beer can struck the senator in the chest/neck region, but investigators stated he did not require medical attention.

According to police, nearby officers brought the man into custody without more incident. He was arrested and faces allegations of assault. The police have not identified the culprit.

A social media video showed a can being thrown towards Cruz, along with booing from the parade audience, although police would not confirm if this was the same incident. Others on the float were seen attempting to shield Cruz from the can before it struck him.

Cruz reposted the video and applauded the cops for their response. “I’m also grateful that the clown who tossed his White Claw had a spaghetti arm,” he continued. He had previously tweeted that he will be at the parade.

Cruz, who resides in the Houston metropolitan area, attended multiple World Series games, including Game 5, in which the Astros claimed the championship. He posted a photo of his daughter Catherine on Twitter.

When Cruz attended Game 4 of the American League Championship Series in New York, Yankee fans jeered and flipped him off. However, Cruz retweeted a news article describing the event with the word “scoreboard” because the Astros not only won that game, but also swept the Yankees.
