A disturbing and deeply troubling event has shaken the New York City subway system, leaving commuters fearful for their safety.
A man is now being accused of sexually assaulting a dead body aboard an R train at Whitehall Street station late Tuesday evening.
The man allegedly attacked the deceased passenger after the individual passed away on the subway.
Police are investigating the incident and searching for the perpetrator, who fled the scene shortly after midnight.

According to reports, the incident took place around 11:45 PM when a male passenger, whose identity remains unknown, collapsed on the train and later died of suspected natural causes.
It’s believed the deceased man had smoked a cigarette handed to him by a woman before losing consciousness.
Just hours later, at around 11:20 PM, a man boarded the train and made contact with the deceased, before allegedly committing the assault about 25 minutes later.
Surveillance footage reviewed by authorities reportedly shows the 56-year-old man, described as having black hair, brown eyes, a goatee, and wearing a yellow hoodie with a blue LA Dodgers baseball cap, engaging in the horrifying act.
He had boarded the subway train approximately three hours after the deceased man had entered.
Investigation and Identification Efforts
The NYPD is currently investigating the case and has identified a person of interest—a 56-year-old man living in the Bronx.
Authorities have released his mugshot but have not named him publicly.
The man’s brother has spoken to the media, explaining that his sibling is a heroin addict who was recently released from prison.
While his brother denies the accusations, the investigation continues as authorities seek to understand the full scope of this disturbing incident.
