Man aged forty is charged with murdering Sheryl Wilkins and committing multiple sexual offences in Tottenham north London

Residents in north London are reeling after a tragic discovery last month turned into a full-scale murder investigation.

Police have now charged a 40-year-old man in connection with the death of a woman found in Tottenham, while also linking him to a string of other serious offences.

Man Charged with Murder and Multiple Offences

Simon Levy, aged 40, has been formally accused of murdering 39-year-old Sheryl Wilkins, who was found unresponsive on High Road, Tottenham, on the morning of August 24.

Sadly, despite emergency efforts, Ms Wilkins died at the scene.

Alongside the murder charge, the Metropolitan Police confirmed Levy is also facing allegations of intentional strangulation, grievous bodily harm with intent under Section 18, and two counts of rape.

These additional charges are connected to offences involving Ms Wilkins and another woman, whose identity is being protected due to the seriousness of the case.

Ongoing Court Proceedings

Levy, who lives on Beaufoy Road in Tottenham, is set to appear at Highbury Magistrates’ Court today.

Police have confirmed that both victims’ families are receiving support from specialist officers during what they described as an “incredibly difficult time.”

The Morning of the Tragedy

The incident that sparked the investigation unfolded just after 7:30am on August 24 when officers were called to High Road.

Sheryl Wilkins was discovered unresponsive, and despite immediate assistance, she was declared dead shortly after.

A post-mortem examination was carried out but the initial results were inconclusive, prompting detectives to continue gathering evidence and witness accounts to establish what happened.

Arrest and Investigation

Following weeks of inquiries, Levy was arrested on September 4 on suspicion of murder.

By September 7, police confirmed he had been formally charged.

The investigation remains ongoing, with officers appealing for the public’s help in piecing together the events leading up to the tragedy.

Police Appeal to the Public

Authorities are urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward.

Members of the public can contact police on 101 quoting 1721/24AUG, or, if they wish to remain anonymous, use Crimestoppers on 0800 111 555.

Families Left Devastated

For Ms Wilkins’ loved ones, the charges bring a step toward justice but also highlight the devastating loss of a woman whose life was cut short in such shocking circumstances.

Both families remain under the care of specialist support teams as the case moves forward through the courts.
