What’s usually a quiet stretch of Malibu’s exclusive beachfront turned into chaos this week when a woman armed with a bow and arrow sparked panic among her neighbors.
Police say the bizarre standoff unfolded at a mansion along Malibu Road, a place better known for luxury homes and celebrity residents than police raids.
Arrest on the Balcony
Authorities revealed that the 68-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was accused of firing arrows at people near her home on Wednesday.
The tension escalated when one man reported being targeted, though thankfully, no one was struck.
She then barricaded herself inside, leading to a dramatic confrontation that lasted nearly nine hours.
Heavily armed officers eventually stormed the property and arrested her on the balcony, where news cameras captured the tense moment.
Neighbors Left Stunned
Those living nearby described the ordeal as both frightening and surreal.
Neighbor Larry May explained that the woman had grown irritated about dogs being walked on the beach and began shooting arrows at people.
Another resident, Carolina Cohen, recalled seeing her shout profanities and toss random items from her house just days earlier.
During the standoff, clothes, trash, and personal belongings were seen scattered across the sand, tossed from the woman’s balcony as she screamed threats at those below.
Mental Health Concerns
Police confirmed the woman fired arrows at two people during the incident, though neither was injured.
They also said she appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.
