Madonna rang in her 67th birthday in style this past Saturday, taking in the excitement of the Palio di Siena, the historic horse race in Tuscany.
The pop icon watched from a balcony in Siena alongside her children, including son Rocco, daughter Lourdes Leon, and her twin daughters Stella and Estere, 12, whom she adopted from Malawi in 2017.
The Palio, a centuries-old event dating back to medieval times, has been formally held since 1633 and takes place twice a year in the Tuscan city.
Madonna appeared captivated by the spectacle, enjoying the lively atmosphere with her family by her side.
Family Celebrations and Star-Studded Support
Her 25-year-old son Rocco, Madonna’s child with director Guy Ritchie, joined the celebration casually dressed in a vest, while eldest daughter Lourdes, 28, born from her relationship with dancer Carlos Leon, added to the festive energy.
Madonna is also mother to 19-year-old Chifundo “Mercy” James Kambewa Ciccone, who she adopted from Malawi in 2007 after a prolonged legal battle due to Madonna being a two-time divorcée.
David Banda, 19, another Malawian adoptee whom she welcomed in 2006, did not attend the outing.
Despite their absence, Madonna’s birthday was clearly a family-centered celebration, blending tradition, travel, and her signature star power.
Madonna Teases New Music Amid Birthday Festivities
The birthday celebrations come hot on the heels of excitement over Madonna’s upcoming album.
Fans were recently treated to glimpses of her recording sessions in London with longtime collaborator Stuart Price, hinting that the new album will serve as a sequel to her iconic 2005 release, Confessions on a Dance Floor.
Madonna shared behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram, showcasing herself in a lace cami top and a t-shirt emblazoned with the word “Mother,” as she recorded vocals and played instruments in the studio.
In one snapshot, she even sat behind a drum kit, blending hard work with her unmistakable flair for performance.
A Heartfelt Message to Fans
In her post, Madonna expressed her excitement for her audience:
“My Valentine’s Day gift to all my fans is to let you know I’m putting my heart and soul into my new music and I can’t wait to share it with you!”
The album will mark her first since 2019’s Madame X.
While no release date has been confirmed, the seven-time Grammy winner’s social media updates have kept fans buzzing, eager for any hint of when they can hear her next set of tracks.
