Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka has left the ruling Jubilee Party and rejoined FORD-Kenya, which he expects to utilize to recapture the Bungoma governorship that he lost in the 2017 General Election.
Following his recent dalliance with Ford-Kenya party head and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, Lusaka returned to the fold.
Capital News was informed by a source close to Lusaka that the Speaker had definitely deserted.
“Yes, he’s always been in FORD Kenya because that’s where he belongs,” stated the insider.
Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, who was elected in 2017 on the FORD Kenya ticket, has broken connections with Wetangula and joined the Democratic Action Party-Kenya, which is led by Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa.
Wangamati won the seat on Ford Kenya ticket after garnering 197,422 votes while Lusaka, who ran on the Jubilee Party ticket, came close second with 175,929 votes.
But Wetang’ula has vowed to teach Governor Wangamati a lesson and has openly vowed to support Lusaka for the County’s top job.
Lusaka has since mended fences with Wetang’ula after their differences which scuttled his chances of his re-election in 2017.
Lusaka has revitalized his political networks across the county, and he visits funerals and other public events on weekends to connect with the people.
Wetangula founded the Kenya Kwanza Alliance with Deputy President William Ruto in January 2022, which also includes Amani National Congress (ANC) Leader Musalia Mudavadi.
In recent months, the trio has stepped up their efforts to popularize their coalition around the country as they seek votes.
