Fans and friends of Ken Flores have been left grappling with grief and confusion since the young comedian’s sudden passing earlier this year.
Seven months after his shocking death at just 28, the cause has finally been confirmed.
Official Report Reveals Accidental Overdose
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Flores died in January 2025 due to a drug overdose.
The report, obtained by TMZ, confirmed that the cause of death was cocaine toxicity and classified it as accidental.
The report also noted that Flores was suffering from congestive heart failure at the time, which contributed to his passing.
Despite the heart condition, cocaine was the only substance detected in his system—he did not test positive for alcohol, fentanyl, methamphetamine, opiates, or any other drugs.
Flores’ Health Struggles Were Well-Known
Before his death, Flores had been open about his heart condition and the efforts he was making to improve his health.
TMZ had reported that he had been actively working on losing weight and managing his condition in the months leading up to his death.
Congestive heart failure, according to Cleveland Clinic, is a long-term condition in which the heart struggles to pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs, causing fluids to build up in the lungs and legs over time.
Flores had reportedly sought medical assistance multiple times over the past two years and had been using oxygen therapy at home, a common treatment for those with congestive heart failure.
Oxygen tanks were discovered at his home after his passing.
Final Moments and Autopsy Details
Tragically, Flores went into cardiac arrest at home.
A friend discovered him, called 911, and performed CPR while waiting for paramedics, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Law enforcement sources confirmed that no foul play was suspected.
An autopsy was performed, with the final cause and manner of death determined after toxicology results were returned.
Family Mourns Loss of a Rising Star
Flores’ family shared the heartbreaking news of his passing on Instagram in January:
“It is with great sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of our friend, brother, and son, Kenyi Flores.
Please respect our privacy at this time as we are all shocked and devastated by this loss.”
Ken’s Commitment to a Healthier Lifestyle
Shortly before his death, Flores had publicly shared his efforts to avoid alcohol while on tour.
On X (formerly Twitter), he celebrated completing multiple shows without drinking:
“So I started my tour a couple weeks ago and I’m proud to say I’ve done every single show—five in Portland, one in Albuquerque, and four in Atlanta—without a single drop of alcohol.
Nervous for Phoenix next weekend but I think I got it. I’m not sober, just wanna chill a bit.”
He had been scheduled to perform in Phoenix, Arizona, just days after his passing.
Social Media and Comedy World React
Flores had nearly a million followers across social media platforms, helping many of his jokes and videos go viral.
Formerly a podcaster on Talkin’ My S**, he also participated in a roast battle with Jeff Ross, the Roastmaster General.
Tributes poured in after news of his death. Hollywood Improv posted a heartfelt slideshow, saying:
“We were honored to share your talent on our stages.
You were greatness, and it was only a matter of time until the whole world saw it.
You were also kind and a tremendous friend to all lucky enough to know you.
We love you Ken, thank you for all the laughs.”
Fellow comedians and friends, including Carlos Flores, Neema Naz, and René Vaca, expressed their shock and sorrow online, remembering him as a genuinely funny and kind-hearted individual.
The band Los Desvelados also shared memories, thanking Ken for all the laughter and unforgettable moments.
