Liverpool have been busy strengthening their defensive ranks at the youth level, and the latest addition is an exciting one.
The club has officially signed 18-year-old Senegalese centre-back Mor Talla Ndiaye from Amitie FC for a reported £1 million.
The young defender is set to join Rob Page’s Under-21 squad as he begins his journey in English football.
A Promising Talent from Senegal
Mor Talla Ndiaye isn’t just any young defender—he’s a Senegal youth international who recently celebrated his 18th birthday.
He made waves at the FIFA U17 World Cup last November, appearing in four matches as Senegal progressed to the knockout stages.
Ndiaye has also represented his country at U18 level, showcasing his consistency and potential on the international stage.
From Amitie FC to Anfield
Amitie FC, the Senegalese club owned by former Chelsea and Newcastle striker Demba Ba, has nurtured Ndiaye’s talent from an early age.
Despite interest from several European clubs, Liverpool secured the signing, highlighting their strong scouting network.
Standing at 6ft 2in, Ndiaye is a left-footed central defender whose physicality and technical ability have caught the attention of the Reds’ director of global talent, Matt Newberry, and his team.
Words of Pride from His Former Academy
Ndiaye’s former academy celebrated his move on Instagram, emphasizing the values he represents: “Mor embodies the hard work, discipline, and perseverance we instill in our young talents.
His journey is a source of pride for the entire academy and an inspiration for future generations.
We wish him every success in this new chapter of his career and are confident he will represent his country and all who have supported him with dignity. Good luck, Mor—the story is just beginning.”
Liverpool’s Youth-Focused Transfer Strategy
This signing continues Liverpool’s trend of bringing in youthful defensive prospects.
The Reds also secured 19-year-old centre-back Noah Adekoya from Burnley, who will join the U21 setup under Page.
Meanwhile, Ifeanyi Ndukwe from Austria Vienna is reportedly close to a move to Merseyside.
Squad Adjustments on the Horizon
With new defensive talents arriving, Liverpool may look to loan out Amara Nallo to provide him with first-team experience while making space for the incoming youngsters.
The club’s approach suggests a long-term vision of integrating these academy talents into senior football, ensuring the next generation of defenders is ready for the challenge.
